Lemonade Inc. violated the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act by knowingly obtaining, using, and disclosing driver’s license numbers and other personal information through its online insurance quote platform, a class action filed in federal court claims.
Leslie Linwood Rich says that Lemonade intentionally designed its website to automatically display driver’s license numbers to anyone who entered basic personal information like a name and address, without verifying the person had permission to access that data.
