Industry, Consumer Groups Lobbying FCC Over TCPA Regulatory Changes

Groups representing consumers and industry are lobbying the Federal Communications Commission over the Telephone Consumer Protection Act as class action battles over robocalls to mobile phones and unsolicited text messages play out in courts.

In a Feb. 2 letter to the FCC, more than 30 trade associations and business groups asked the FCC to promptly address issues raised in TCPA-related petitions seeking clarity about the application of the TCPA and its implementing rules. The organizations included ACA International, or the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
