Ikea Facing Class Suit for Using Website Tracking Technologies

IKEA North America Services LLC was hit with a class suit in federal court alleging that it violated the California Invasion of Privacy Act by installing tracking technologies on its website without consent.

Erin Weiler alleges that IKEA’s website installed the Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel, which are “pen registers” under state law. The pixels secretly collect data about website visitors’ online activities and communications—including personal information, location data, browsing history, and other identifying details, in a process known as fingerprinting—without their consent or a court order, the complaint says.
