Horizon Actuarial Services Face Lawsuit Over 2021 Data Breach

Horizon Actuarial Services faces a proposed class action in Maryland federal court over a 2021 data breach that allegedly affected nearly 200,000 people who were signed up for benefit plans through their employer.

John Adkinson sued Horizon in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, claiming that the consulting firm failed to safeguard his personal information, allowing his name, date of birth, Social Security number, and personal health information to be compromised.

The breach affected 14 multiemployer benefit plans, and 194,195 potential class members, the complaint says.
