Honda Drivers Fail to Tie Alleged Electrical Drain to Problems

American Honda Motor Co. shook off a proposed class suit by drivers alleging certain vehicles experience battery drain from electrical components that fail to properly shut down, a California federal court order said.

The plaintiffs didn’t adequately specify the alleged defective part or system, and didn’t plausibly connect the alleged defect to problems with their vehicles, the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Tuesday, granting Honda’s motion to dismiss. Nonetheless, the court allowed the drivers an opportunity to amend their complaint by Oct. 18.
