Hertz, Dollar Must Produce Records in Overcharge Suit

The Hertz Corp. and Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group must produce documents in a consumer class action alleging it overcharged customers renting cars in Mexico, including hundreds of dollars more for undisclosed, but required, insurance coverage.

The companies have control over the documents even though they are in the hands of their Mexican licensees, Judge Leonard P. Stark wrote Sept. 30 for the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.

The would-be class covers many thousands of rental car transactions in Mexico over a nine-year period.
