The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas moved to wrap up litigation against Heartland Payment Systems Inc. over a 2009 breach of over 100 million consumers’ payment card data when it March 20 gave final approval to the settlement of consumer class claims (In re Heartland Payment Sys. Inc. Customer Data Security Breach Litig., S.D. Tex., No. 4:09-md-02046).
On March 14, the court dismissed litigation brought by a group of financial institutions against KeyBank N.A., which processed card transactions on behalf of Heartland (Lone Star Nat’l Bank N.A. v. Heartland Bank, S.D. Tex., No. 4:10-cv-00171
