Hartford Pauses Sexual Abuse Coverage Suit Against Capuchins

A Hartford Insurance Group Inc. unit and a California Catholic order agreed to put their coverage dispute over sexual abuse-related litigation on hold until the underlying suits are resolved.

The US District Court for the Central District of California granted the parties’ stipulation to stay the case in a May 30 order.

Catholic organizations have faced an onslaught of lawsuits in recent years, after many states passed laws—often known as “reviver statutes"—waiving the statute of limitations for childhood sexual abuse claims.
