Google Parties Give High Court More to Consider on Standing

The parties involved in a $8.5 million privacy settlement between Google and consumers gave the U.S. Supreme Court more arguments to consider on whether the consumers had standing to sue in the first place.

The class representative, Google, objectors, and the government filed briefs Nov. 30, as requested by the court after oral argument.

The case underlying the settlement challenged by the objectors alleged Google’s practice of sharing search terms with third-party websites violates users’ privacy.
