GM Fails on Appeal to Undo Class Status in Transmission Suits

General Motors LLC must continue to litigate a class action over allegations that certain vehicles purchased between 2015 and 2019 had faulty transmissions, after a federal appeals court held Wednesday that certification was proper.

The US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit rejected GM’s argument that the district court violated standing principles by certifying 26 state subclasses that included members who had never experienced a transmission problem with their cars.
