General Motors Gets ‘Infotainment’ System Defect Suit Trimmed

General Motors LLC convinced a federal judge to trim claims in a lawsuit brought by a group of people who bought new and used Cadillacs in California and say their navigation and radio touchscreens were defective and dangerous.

The would-be class plaintiffs seek to hold GM liable for selling vehicles equipped with its Cadillac User Experience system that “spontaneously delaminate, bubble or crack, rendering the CUE useless.” The owners also allege that the defect can be distracting—and therefore dangerous—and that GM concealed the defect instead of informing consumers.
