General Mills Sued Over Phthalates in Annie’s Mac and Cheese

General Mills Inc. was hit with a proposed class suit alleging it deceptively portrays its Annie’s macaroni and cheese products as healthful and uses a “cute bunny” mascot, yet fails to disclose the products contain phthalates, chemicals that are particularly harmful to children and pregnant women.

Annie’s products are touted as either certified organic or made with organic ingredients, and their packaging says they don’t have artificial flavors, synthetic colors, or preservatives, New Yorker Shelby Franklin says in suit filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
