GEICO Faces Whittled Claims in Suit Over Covid-19 Auto Premiums

GEICO Casualty Co. won partial dismissal of a would-be class action in Illinois federal court claiming it charged drivers “unconscionably excessive” auto insurance premiums because of the reduced insurance risk pool during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois will allow plaintiff Briana Siegal’s claims for deception and unfair conduct under the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, however.
