The Federal Trade Commission wants feedback on how class settlement data collected in its Sept. 9 staff report can be used to improve the class action process.
The study is based on claims data the FTC requested in 2016 from seven class administrators on their largest consumer settlements from 2012 to 2015.
The average claim rate in the 149 cases studied is 10%, the study found. The claims rate varied depending on what method is used to get notice to class members.
