Ford Shakes Warranty Claims in Transmission Class Action

Ford Motor Co. must face some claims in a class action alleging it sold cars with faulty transmissions, despite the company’s argument that the plaintiffs filed a “shotgun pleading,” a Michigan federal court ruled.

The 841-page complaint alleges transmission defects in model year 2010 - 2017 Ford Fusions. Plaintiffs claim the defects caused various problems including violent jerking, gears slipping, and transmission failures while driving.

Plaintiffs alleged breach of express and implied warranties, a violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, revocation of acceptance, fraud and consumer protection claims, unjust enrichment, and product liability claims.
