Ford Faces Class Action Over Explorer Second-Row Seatbelt Defect

Ford Motor Co. is facing a proposed class action lawsuit alleging a dangerous defect in the second-row seatbelts of its 2011 to 2019 Explorer models.

The complaint Friday says these cars suffer from a defect that causes the second-row seatbelts to malfunction, fail to latch properly, and trigger the airbag warning light. He alleges the defect poses a serious safety risk and Ford has been aware of the issue through customer complaints, repair records, warranty claims, and other sources as early as 2012.
