Ford Defeats Class Certification in Shattering Sunroof Case

Ford Motor Co. Escape owners lost their bid for class certification in a lawsuit alleging sunroofs in several vehicle models spontaneously shatter, as a federal court in Washington said they failed to show a common alleged defect.

Nor did the plaintiffs offer a way to show, classwide, that the affected vehicles suffered a loss in value, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington said on Thursday.
