Female Athletes Sue Fresno State for Ending Lacrosse Team (1)

California State University, Fresno was hit with sex discrimination claims by a proposed class of female student athletes who allege the school is eliminating the women’s lacrosse program and has underfunded women’s sports.

The complaint, filed Feb. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, alleges that Fresno State has a long history of noncompliance with Title IX and that the decision to eliminate the women’s lacrosse team “was in flagrant violation” of the antidiscrimination law.
