EBay Sellers’ Class Deal Over App Fees Gets First OK

Individuals who allegedly paid excessive fees to list items for sale on EBay Inc.'s website using the company’s mobile application may proceed as a settlement class, and their proposed settlement with EBay has no obvious deficiencies, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled Oct. 23 (Keirsey v. eBay Inc., N.D. Cal., No. 3:12-cv-01200).

“The Proposed Settlement amount is a very large fraction of the total amount of disputed fees at issue in this case,” the court said in preliminarily approving the deal. The allegedly excessive fees typically amounted to less than $2.00 per transaction, ...
