The $7.4 million nationwide class settlement resolving consumer allegations that Dial Corp. deceptively marketed antibacterial soap is “somewhat unusual” for how completely it compensates class members, the federal court overseeing the deal said May 31.
Class members who filed claims “are being fully compensated for the price premium paid associated with the allegedly inaccurate marketing claims,” which is rare for consumer product class settlements, Judge Steven J. McAuliffe wrote for the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire.
