Deloitte Proposes to Pay $4.95 Million to End Data Breach Suit

Deloitte Consulting LLP has agreed to pay $4.95 million to resolve claims that websites it designed for state employment agencies in Illinois, Ohio, and Colorado were unreasonably vulnerable to security breaches.

The motion for preliminary approval of the deal was filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

If approved, the settlement would release the claims of 237,675 people who, between approximately May 18, 2020, and May 21, 2020, received letters notifying them that personal information they supplied to claim pandemic-related unemployment assistance may have been exposed as a result of a security incident. ...
