A class action challenging an Illinois city’s red-light camera system must be dismissed, a federal court ruled.
American Traffic Solutions Inc. contracts with Illinois municipalities like Granite City to operate automated red-light enforcement systems. Motion detection cameras capture drivers running red lights and then transmit the data to law enforcement personnel, who certify that a violation has occurred. ATS then mails traffic citations on behalf of the charging municipality.
