Costa Sunglasses’ ‘No-Gimmicks’ Warranty a Gimmick, Suit Says (1)

Costa Del Mar Inc.'s warranty advertised as “rock solid” deceptively lures customers into paying a premium for its sunglasses, a class action filed April 3 alleges.

Costa “aggressively promotes” its sunglasses as being “backed for life” and calls its warranty “the best in the industry,” with “no gimmicks” and “no disclaimers,” the suit says.

The warranty promises to fix scratched lenses, frames, and other parts damaged by accident, normal wear and tear, or misuse for a “nominal fee.”
