Conseco Life Insurance Company has received preliminary approval of a $27 million proposed class settlement to resolve allegations that it announced a massive increase in premium expenses and related fees in order to force policyholders to surrender their policies.
If approved, each class member will receive a minimum of $500. But average relief will be much higher at around $3,700, with the highest per-policy payment reaching $150,000, according to the order issued by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana Wednesday.
