Cognizant’s $5.7 Million Wages Settlement Wins Initial Approval

Cognizant Technology Solutions has agreed to pay $5.7 million to resolve allegations it underpaid quality assurance analysts for overtime earned while they were assigned to its client Blue Cross Blue Shield of California, according to a federal court ruling granting preliminary approval of the proposed settlement.

Judge Troy L. Nunley’s opinion, issued Monday for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, conditionally approved a Fair Labor Standards Act settlement class comprised of current and former employees who claim they should have been paid at a higher hourly overtime rate based on guaranteed total income.
