Chrysler’s $308M EcoDiesel Class Settlement Gets Final Approval

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V.‘s $308 million settlement with diesel car owners over alleged emissions cheating secured a federal judge’s final approval May 3.

The owners and lessees of about 100,000 Chrysler vehicles accused the automaker of building its diesel cars to cheat emissions tests while marketing them as environmentally friendly.

The consumers will get $990 to $3,075 each under the settlement Judge Edward M. Chen approved.

The car owners’ lawyers will receive $59 million—about 19 percent of the settlement’s potential value—in attorneys’ fees. They’ll also receive $7 million for court costs, the order said.
