ChoicePoint Shrinks Meta, Google Health Info-Sharing Class Suit

ChoicePoint Health succeeded in narrowing a proposed class action from plaintiffs who said the healthcare provider illegally used online tracking tools to record information about their drug and alcohol addiction treatment.

The plaintiffs told the US District Court for the Western District of Washington that they received targeted online advertising for addiction treatment services because ChoicePoint used trackers from Meta Platforms and Google.

The proposed class sufficiently alleged the addiction surveys and appointment requests on ChoicePoint’s website count as personal health information when provided to Facebook and Google, Judge Kymberly K. Evanson said.
