Chipotle Sued by Shareholder Following Latest Sickness Outbreak

Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. faces an investor lawsuit over a stock price drop after an illness outbreak at one of its restaurants, despite claims by the company that it was in compliance with health and safety standards (Kelley v. Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc., D. Colo., 1:17-cv-01760-STV, 7/20/17).

The restaurant chain owner made misleading statements about its quality control and workplace safety in the 18 months leading up to July 19, according to the complaint in federal court in Denver that was filed by a shareholder as a class action.
