Bond Ordered for Suspected Professional Objector

Objectors to a settlement that would resolve claims that internet service provider Clearwire Corp. intentionally slowed internet service at peak times must pay a $41,150 appeal bond or dismiss their notice of appeal, a federal district court in Washington state held March 11 (Dennings v. Clearwire Corporation, W.D. Wash., No. 2:10-cv-1859).

Judge James L. Robart of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington concluded the appeal bond was appropriate, and said that plaintiffs have presented evidence that the objectors, class members Gordon Morgan and Jeremy De La Garza, have “vexatious intent” in filing their notice ...
