Bob’s Discount Furniture was hit with a proposed class action in federal court in New York by a consumer who says the company promotes warranties under which legitimate claims are routinely denied without justification.
Renal Glover sued the company claiming it used deceptive practices to sell a “Goof Proof” warranty that purports to cover damage by liquids, beverage stains, cosmetics, rips, and tears. In reality, the defendant and its partners are “in the business of collecting premiums and rejecting claims submitted for the Goof Proof warranty,” the complaint alleges.
