BLM Sues Santa Monica, Former Police Chief Over Protest Response

Black Lives Matter Los Angeles is suing the city of Santa Monica and its former chief of police, along with up to 10 “Doe” defendants, over the handling of protesters responding to the murder of George Floyd last year.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California Monday claims that the Santa Monica Police Department, along with officers from other agencies who were called in to help, targeted protestors, rather than individuals engaged in nearby looting and other criminal activity.
