A counsel fee award in a class action settlement over junk faxes shrunk from the requested $1.46 million to around $650,000, after the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio concluded on Feb. 7 that the requested fee would provide a windfall to class counsel (Michel v. WM Healthcare Solutions, Inc., S.D. Ohio, No. 1:10-cv-00638).
