The Army will reconsider the less-than-honorable discharges of recent veterans with service-related mental health conditions, under a class action settlement agreement approved by a federal court in Connecticut.
Veterans are able to apply to the the Army Discharge Review Board for an upgrade in discharge status. Stephen Kennedy, an Iraq War veteran, and Alicia Carson, a veteran of Afghanistan, received less-than-honorable discharges and were denied upgrades. They said the ADRB didn’t account for medical advances in the understanding of post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma, and other mental health conditions.
