Apple’s $20 Million Deal Settling Screen Claims Gets First Nod

A federal court granted preliminary approval for a $20 million settlement agreement between Apple Inc. and consumers resolving claims that early lines of Apple Watch devices had a defect that caused the battery to swell and crack the screen.

Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr. of the US District Court for the Northern District of California granted the approval Oct. 25. The class will include First Generation, Series 1, 2, or 3 Apple Watch owners who bought their devices between April 24, 2015 and Feb. 6, 2024.
