Apple Watch Screens Crack From Battery Defect, Class Alleges

Apple Watches have a defect that makes the lithium-ion battery swell, causing the screens to crack, shatter, or detach from the watch body, a class action filed April 1 alleges.

Apple Inc. knew the watches were defective before it began selling them to the public and denied reports of damage were caused by a common flaw, the suit says.

The defect poses a significant safety hazard to consumers because the screens can cut or burn wearers when they break, the suit says.
