Apple $95 Million Deal Over Replacement Devices Gets First OK

Apple Inc.'s $95 million settlement resolving claims brought by consumers who sued over allegedly subpar warranty-replacement iPhones got its first OK on Friday when a federal judge in California preliminarily approved the deal.

Vicky Maldonado and others said Apple breached its warranty agreements when it sent out purportedly comparable replacement devices that fail to live up to the company’s guarantees. The case moved closer to trial in May 2021, when the court declined to decertify the class and deemed the plaintiffs’ experts fit to testify.
