American Express Slapped With Federal Court Telemarketing Lawsuit

American Express Co. faces a federal lawsuit filed Jan. 25 alleging that the credit card giant bombarded a Virginia man with unwanted robocalls.

Plaintiff Jacob Wilson claims that AmEx violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by placing unsolicited calls to his cellphone in January for someone named “Jessica.” Wilson, who is attempting to form a class-action lawsuit, is seeking $10 million in damages from the card issuer, his lawyer, Sergei Lemberg of Lemberg Law LLC, told Bloomberg Law.
