American Express, Merchants to Begin New Settlement Talks in Card Suit

American Express Co. and merchants fighting the company over rules governing credit-card fees are headed back to the negotiating table (American Express Anti-Steering Rules Antitrust Litigation, E.D.N.Y., 1:11-md-2221, hearing 10/29/15).

Lawyers for American Express and U.S. retailers on Oct. 29 told a federal judge in Brooklyn, they expect to restart talks in the near future. The judge appointed a new lawyer, Michael Hausfeld, to act as a lead attorney for the merchants.
