Amazon Warehouse Workers Defeat Bid to Toss Screening Wage Case

Amazon.com Inc. must face accusations it failed to pay warehouse workers for time spent undergoing mandatory security screenings after a federal judge in Connecticut mostly denied the company’s motion to dismiss.

The workers’ latest would-be class complaint “reasonably supports the inference” that the online retailer and two related entities violated a state wage law, the US District Court for the District of Connecticut said. But Amazon won dismissal of one worker’s overtime claim after the plaintiffs clarified that the particular worker wasn’t actually alleging unpaid overtime.
