Amazon Fulfillment Workers Sue Over Covid-19 Screening-Time Pay

Amazon.com Services LLC requires fulfillment center employees to undergo screening for Covid-19 before each work shift but hasn’t been paying those employees for their time, according to a lawsuit filed in the Eastern District of California.

The lawsuit also claims that Amazon failed to pay employees for the 5 to 10 minutes they spend undergoing security screening following meal breaks.

The would-be class and collective action alleges that Amazon’s hourly, nonexempt employees should be paid for the time spent in the security and safety screenings, and that Amazon’s failure to factor in this time in calculating wages for hourly employees ...
