Allstate Junk Fax Settlement Gets Final Nod

Allstate Insurance Co. and consumers won final approval Nov. 4 of a $6.5 million class settlement resolving junk fax allegations.

Each of the 15,000 class members will receive $375 per fax. The money will be distributed to them automatically without requiring them to submit claims.

Judge William Alsup of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California approved the deal, but reduced the amount of the settlement paid to class counsel and the class representative.

Class counsel sought $2 million in attorneys’ fees, 30 percent of the settlement fund.
