Jewelry company Alex and Ani faces allegations it shortchanged store managers across the country out of overtime and regular wages in a new proposed collective action filed in a Florida federal court.
The lawsuit was brought by Jamie Howard, who manages an Alex and Ani store in Broward County, under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Howard alleges the jewelry retailer had a pattern and practice of misclassifying store managers as salaried employees exempt from the FLSA’s overtime rules.
Howard filed the suit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
