Aetna Denied Stay on Injunction Over Transgender Facial Surgeries

A federal court in Connecticut denied two transgender women’s request to enforce a preliminary injunction that halted Aetna Life Insurance Co.’s policy excluding facial reconstructive procedures for gender dysphoria. But the judge also warned Aetna that it must comply, and denied the insurer’s request to stay the injunction.

Judge Victor A. Bolden of the US District Court for the District of Connecticut on Friday denied the emergency motion, saying the injunction didn’t contain a specific time frame.
