3M, Wolverine Unable to Shake Michigan PFAS Nuisance Allegations

Michigan residents’ allegations that 3M Co. and Wolverine World Wide Inc. are responsible for PFAS contamination that hurt property values and polluted drinking water survived the companies’ motions to dismiss in federal district court Tuesday.

The companies moved to dismiss the complaint, which included claims for negligence, private nuisance, and public nuisance. The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan dismissed the part of the negligence claim based on alleged personal injuries, but allowed the remaining claims to continue.
