State Street Brings Sales of $317 Billion SPDR Lineup In-House

State Street Corp. is poised to gain control over the sales and marketing of some of its oldest and best-known exchange-traded funds, efforts that were outsourced for more than two decades.

At the start of December, State Street Global Advisors Funds Distributors will replace ALPS Inc. as the distributor of the Select Sector SPDR Funds, a lineup that counts some 11 funds and $317 billion of assets in its roster, according to a regulatory filing.

The fees once paid to ALPS will now stay with State Street, though it’s unclear how much, if any, will constitute profit after covering sales ...
