Squarepoint Taps Element’s Dorfman for Equity Capital Markets

Hedge fund Squarepoint Capital hired Element Capital Management’s Jon Dorfman to lead its global equity capital markets efforts.

Dorfman’s “expertise will be a great addition to Squarepoint as we expand our ECM business globally,” a representative for the firm said in an emailed statement. Villy de Luca will have global oversight until Dorfman starts at Squarepoint, and after that, will lead the firm’s ECM efforts in Europe.

At hedge funds, ECM bets generally include investing in companies through initial public offerings or secondary deals, such as block trades.
