Senate Democrats Ask Bessent for Details on Argentina Swap Line

Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren and Jeanne Shaheen urged Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to disclose “meaningful” details on a $20 billion swap line with Argentina, after the Trump administration agreed to aid the South American economy for FX stabilization.

In a letter addressed to both Bessent and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Dec. 17, the senators said that the “lack of transparency is concerning” regarding the swap line, “leaving serious questions over the use of significant taxpayer resources.”
