Peel Hunt Touts Signs of Life in London’s Equity Capital Markets

Peel Hunt Ltd. said it’s seeing some “nascent” activity in London’s equity capital markets and the UK investment bank expects its full-year earnings to exceed analyst expectations.

“In recent weeks we have seen nascent ECM activity where we have supported our clients on a number of equity raises and block trades,” the firm said in an unscheduled trading update on Friday. The activity, combined with a number of sizable mandates advising on mergers and acquisitions as well as higher revenue from trade execution services will lead to better annual earnings than the market is currently expecting, Peel Hunt said.
