NYSE’s Lynn Martin Says Markets Operating Well Amid Volatility

As US equities entered bear territory, stock markets are operating smoothly amid a record level of message traffic among traders, New York Stock Exchange President Lynn Martin said.

“The job of an exchange right now, particularly given all the volatility and all the uncertainty in the market, is to ensure that our systems remain open, transparent, efficient and that buyers can be sellers, and sellers can be buyers,” Martin said in an interview Monday on Bloomberg Television. “From our perspective, the markets are performing incredibly well. There is a ton of liquidity in the market.”
