Miran Sees Less Tension in Fed’s Dual Goals Than Counterparts

Federal Reserve Governor Stephen Miran said he doesn’t see as much tension between the central bank’s two goals as some of his fellow policymakers do.

Miran repeated his view that factors such as a slowdown in population growth and his expectations for a limited impact on inflation from President Donald Trump’s tariff policies mean the Fed can continue reducing interest rates. The Fed pursues dual goals of fostering both maximum employment and stable inflation.
